چکیده
Background: Clinical studies of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy are over-represented by individuals European ethnicity, with less known about other ethnic groups. We investigated differences between patients in a multiethnic Australian population. Methods: performed retrospective cohort study 836 unrelated probands attending specialized clinic 2002 and 2020. Major groups were (n=611), East Asian (n=75), South (n=58), Middle Eastern North African (n=68). The minor ethnicity Oceanian (n=9), People the Americas (n=7), (n=8). One-way ANOVA Dunnett post hoc test Bonferroni adjustment performed. Results: Mean age major was 54.9±16.9 years, 527 (65%) male. Using group as control, had lower body mass index (29 versus 25 kg/m 2 , P <0.0001). Asians prevalence atrial fibrillation (10% 31%, =0.024). more likely to have apical hypertrophy (23% 6%, <0.0001) present left ventricular outflow tract obstruction (46% 34%, =0.0003). undergo genetic testing (55% 85%, or an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator implanted (19% 36%, =0.037). causative variant gene than MYBPC3 MYH7 whereas highest rates variants uncertain significance (27% 21%, Conclusions: There few clinical based on but importantly, we identify health disparities relating access use. Unless addressed, these gaps will widen move towards precision-medicine–based care cardiomyopathy.

OBJECTIVES We sought to assess the occurrence and clinical significance of stroke and peripheral arterial embolizations at non-central nervous system sites in a large, community-based cohort with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). BACKGROUND Such vascular events are insufficiently appreciated complications of HCM for which there is limited information on occurrence, clinical profile and deter...

BACKGROUND The phenotype of individuals with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) who exercise regularly is unknown. This study characterized the clinical profile of young athletes with HCM. METHODS AND RESULTS The electrical, structural, and functional cardiac parameters from 106 young (14-35 years) athletes with HCM were compared with 101 sedentary HCM patients. A subset of athletes with HCM e...
متن کاملPrevalence and clinical profile of myocardial crypts in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
BACKGROUND In hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), cardiovascular MR can detect morphological abnormalities of the left ventricle (LV) not visualized with echocardiography. Although myocardial crypts (ie, narrow, blood-filled invaginations within the LV wall) have been recognized in HCM, all clinical implications of these structural abnormalities within the broad clinical HCM spectrum are not com...
متن کاملClinical profile and significance of delayed enhancement in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
BACKGROUND Contrast-enhanced cardiovascular magnetic resonance with delayed enhancement (DE) can provide in vivo assessment of myocardial fibrosis. However, the clinical significance of DE in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) remains unresolved. METHODS AND RESULTS Cine and cardiovascular magnetic resonance with DE were performed in 202 HCM patients (mean age, 42+/-17 years; 71% male), DE was...

The clinical profile of 78 patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy who died suddenly (or experienced cardiac arrest and survived) was analyzed. At the time of cardiac catastrophe, 71% of the patients were younger than 30 years of age, 54% were without functional limitation and 61% were performing sedentary or minimal physical activity. Nineteen of the 78 patients (24%) were taking propranolol...
